Kdenlive 16.08.2 Released, How to Update in Ubuntu Via PPA

How to Update Kdenlive in Ubuntu - Kdenlive is an acronym for KDE Non-Linear Video Editor. It is primarily aimed at the GNU/Linux platform but also works on BSD and Mac OXS. It's one of Adobe Premier for Linux alternative.

This free video editor is licensed under GNU General Public License. In October 13, 2016, Kdenlive 16.08.2 has been released with multiple bug fixes.

Installing and Updating Kdenlive in Ubuntu and Derivatives System

This is the second service release of the 16.08 cycle with a total of 36 commits fixing many keyframe related problems as well as improvements to proxy clip rendering, user interface, workflow and compilation issues.

Install Latest Kdenlive on Ubuntu

As I mentioned, to install / update Kdenlive to latest version you need to add the PPA. Here are the step by step to do :

Step 1 - Open Ubuntu's terminal window then add the following PPA into Ubuntu system :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kdenlive/kdenlive-stable

Type your password when it prompted then press Enter to continue.

Step 2 - Refresh the sources by running the command below :

sudo apt-get update

Step 3 - Once updated, all you need is install the latest kdenlive by running :

sudo apt-get install kdenlive

It needs to get 18.3 MB of archives and 48.0 MB of additional disk space.

Now you can open Kdenlive from Unity dash, Synapse launcher or similar app launcher.
