How to Make Telegram Tray Icon Match Ubuntu Top Panel

Theming Telegram Panel Icon

As most of you already know, the default Telegram tray icon uses a circular colored (it's blue). For consistency, we will make that icons white-ish. See the screenshot below :

A GitLab user Bandot has created a set of replacement Telegram tray icons which you can use to replace the original Telegram icon.

Here are all you have to do to install the icons :
  • Download the package
  • Extract the Zip
  • Copy ticons folder
  • Go to .local/share/TelegramDesktop/tdata/ directory in your Home folder (press Ctrl+H to show hidden files)
  • Replace the original ticons folder
  • Open Telegram desktop app
  • Enjoy white-ish top bar icons

As I have mentioned earlier, the icons cover 1000 unread message only. If the message out of custom icon number, it will be automatically generated with default Telegram style.
